Tattoos and Piercings (Teenagers These Days)

There's quite a few things about teenagers my age that I don't understand. Today's topic, however, is tattoos and piercings. Why does EVERYONE, and I mean literally EVERYONE, is complaining about not being able to get a tattoo at the moment or expressing their desire for a tattoo? Also, the piercings. Frankly, I don't see what's so attractive about having a gazillion holes in all parts of your earlobe, or on your nose, lip, tongue, eyebrow, stomach, etc.

I mean, yes, tattoos are cool, but what's with the obsession of getting one? I've NEVER ever wanted to get a tattoo, most likely never will. I mean, 1) It probably hurts, at least slightly if not a lot. 2) What if you get a tattoo of something and then realize you don't like it afterward or realized you should've gotten something else? And God forbid, what if you tattoo the name of your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife's name on some part of your body? Marriages/relationships don't last forever these days, if you get the picture. Personally, I would never be stupid enough to do that. I've always been a responsible, rather ladylike girl in most things (and I mean MOST, but not all) and I've never cared for any of these things. Maybe it's just the ghetto-ish school I go to where every girl wants these things, but what happened to girls who are just happy with the simple things about their body? Without all the tattoo ink or the holes?

  1. just think: in 50 years there'll be a bunch of old women running around with holes in their noses, bellybuttons, and eyebrows. :)

  2. oh, I shudder at the thought. The old dainty grandmothers with their proper manners and proper piercings will be long gone. My grandma is the most proper woman I have ever met..

  4. Oh WOW. That's so weird! My grandma - never in a million years would she get a belly button piercing, not even if someone paid her a million bucks. Neither would she even go to the beach in a bathing suit - she'd be properly dressed.

  6. Hahaha, mine wouldn't say anything directly to her, much less yell her thoughts aloud because she is a proper and well mannered woman, but she would tell me her thoughts about it, and make me promise that I would never ever do something like that to myself.

  7. I saw a picture of three old dudes covered with tattoos. It was awesome. I don't really mind tattoos but will never get one because I'm a chicken. Unless something major happened I wouldn't get one. I don't really mind piercings either. But again I'm a chicken. The black ear things that make the holes bigger? Disgusting. Why would you do that!? But I like the ones all over the ears. Just not major holes. Snake bites are so cool too. Piercings on the tongue are just plain stupid because that's how you sound now. Stupid.

There's a couple of people at my school with a couple. And I notice that when you get a tattoo you don't stop at one.

  8. I know - it's like an addiction! I don't know - if I decide to get one it'll probably something silly yet innocent like a butterfly or something - I think I'd be too chicken as well. Tattoos can look really good on a specific person but it depends. But personally, I've never found the earrings all over the ears attractive...just the simple one hole per ear looks just fine to me, so why overdo it?

  9. It looks cool.

If I ever get a tattoo it'll be meaningful.

  10. Well now that I think about it, my tattoo would be meaningful too - but no way in hell am I going to tattoo somebody's name on my body - especially a guy's! Maybe if I really really loved him and then he died or something. But that's probably the only exception.
